More otome game videos

July 27th, 2008

Well, it’s Sunday and I didn’t get much done today except sleep and surf around on the Internet. Found some good otome gameplay videos, where it kind of shows you the features of each game.

This is Mizu no Senritsu 2 ~Hi no Kioku~, which I haven’t heard many people talk about. I really enjoyed it, it has a pretty intense storyline and includes a battle system. Here’s the OP if you just want to see what the visuals look like:

The story is based on the first Mizu no Senritsu, which I didn’t like as much – it was a straight visual novel, and some of the character designs didn’t interest me. Plus, it was one of the first otome games I played and it was pretty dark, so that took me off guard.

Dear My Sun! I wasn’t sure about the concept when it first came out so I didn’t get it, but I think it looks like a lot of fun now (especially now that I know you fall in love with one of adult guys, phew!)

Heehee, another game I haven’t seen much mention of. The premise is totally unrealistic, trying to get a host to fall in love with you, but the game itself is a lot of fun. The gameplay shown here includes getting a job, shopping for stuff and making presents for the guys – the creation minigame is pretty fun.

OK, this isn’t a gameplay vid, but I wanted to put Sorayume in because I’m probably going to start playing it this week. And I still haven’t finished a Hanayoi Romanesque route, gah!!

And finally, one of my fave games, Love Revo! for the DS.

I’ve been interested in Dear My Sun! ever since I heard it was being released. : D The premise looked sweet, sort of like an inverted Princess Maker but with more options and the ability to scope out cute guys. I didn’t think they were going to allow for mother/son relationships (romantically), but I’m with you – that would have totally put me off. Ick! Aside from the general cuteness of those videos, what pleased me the most was the fact it has a BACKLOG! The easiest way for me to understand Japanese if it’s being spoken is to hear it over and over again. Particularly if there’s a kanji I can’t quite make out. Backlog feature saved me in Haruka, and now I’m extremely weary to buy any games without one. Trouble is they don’t usually make a point out of whether they have it or not. No playbacks are doable, but way tougher to work with.

I’ve heard of Mizu no Senritsu but never done any investigating into its plot. The art style isn’t really to my taste, but since you mentioned it I’ll have to give it a second look. An interesting story is the backbone for any good game, after all!

Gah, I’ve known about the others as well, but I have no monies right now to try them out. So many otome games, so little time (and cash)! It’s fun seeing the gameplay and visuals though. At least that’s free!
