Is it common to do a post explaining the site? I dunno, but I’m going to do it.
Lijaka / Lijakaca: Basically these are both my web aliases, I used to use Lijaka, but sometime either forgot the passwords (aha, oops) or someone else registered on the sites I wanted with that name, so I added a ‘CA’ to the end (’cause I’m from Canada, eh?)
In this site, I’m using Lijakaca as the blog / personal gaming title. This is where I have been blabbing about otome gaming news and reviews for a few years now.
and Lijaka.com is the title of the blog’s sister site where I…am working on an otome game! Yes, the first project of Lijaka Games is an original otome game in English, that should be out this summer. It took a long time to formulate, originally I was trying to translate a fan-made game from Japanese, but I had trouble getting responses (maybe they thought I would try to sell it or something, I don’t blame them for being careful). And I thought about trying to license a commercial game from Japan, but, uh…I’m not that rich. So I started thinking of making my own game, and got pretty excited about ideas and stuff, but in addition to not being rich, I’m not a programmer! My real job is actually of no help whatsoever in making otome games. But I heard about games being made in Flash, and I thought that I could start off with a simple one just ‘for practice’. So I bought the whole Adobe Creative Suite, and am currently learning Flash (I was pretty optimistic about how simple it is, haha). I also started looking for artists, because out of all the requirements for making a videogame, art is the one thing I know I will never be able to do myself. Well, art and voices ^_^. And somehow, my stumbling along has developed into a real game! Other surprises have come along to delay things (thank you faulty plumbing and car accident!), but I am trying to get back on track.
So right now the outline is done, the art is coming along (I will try and get a mini-site up soon), now I’m working on the programming and script! Wish me luck!

Wow! Good luck with the game! Also I love your new layout and the game release calendar.
Woah, what news! I really wish you luck, I’ll be looking forward to it. Do tell us when the mini site’s up, I’m quite curious of course
Sorry for doubleposting, I just noticed once again, that emoticons I use are displayed as gray boxes. Is that just me and my computer or are they somehow missing from this blog?
Love your new layout and game release calendar too! Great idea to keep track of what will be out soon so can start saving money *stares at empty wallet*… Good luck with your otome game and keep us informed ^^.
Whoa, you bought the whole Adobe Creative Suite… ^^; Hope everything would work out well! Never touched flash myself, so am not likely to be of any help there… ^^;
I was kinda expecting this.. ;> But I’m certainly looking forward to seeing what you’ll come up with, since I’m sure you have some decent ideas.
I’m not a programmer either. Though I tried to learn Flash, it seemed like an awful lot of effort for not much reward.
I know you’ve spent a lot already, Lijaka, but if you struggle with Flash, then there’s always the free option of Ren’py. It may not be well suited to games with complex statistics or action, but it’s a useful tool for making visual novels and simple dating simulations. Be sure to ask around the Lemma Soft forum if you’re forming a development team.
You might know this already, but in case you didn’t, some indie game creators have used Ren’py to create commercial games. The pool of creative talent has improved in the last five or six years, since the days when VNs made in English only used clipart.
Thanks for the idea, I actually am thinking about Ren’py, it’s just so much simpler! I was wondering if I could use it as a base, and then maybe hire a Python expert if anything required more (I believe it’s based in Python).
But first, a website! Actually, first I need to get some non-gaming stuff out of the way, I’ve been soooo busy lately I hate it and when I go home I only have energy for some light gaming. By the end of March all my real life stuff should be done (the non-fun stuff anyway) and I can really focus!
You know, I’ve never had the patience to do something like this, though I’ve definitely wanted to.
Tell me if you need help with programming or website designing. If you plan on using Ren’py, I can help you. My major’s in Computer Science, so it should be a good practice run for me as well _> I hope…
Weird…my comment got cut off. Oh well.
I don’t think I’ve ever designed a game, but I have written simulation programs. They can’t be that different >_> I hope…
