July 21st, 2011

Juuzaengi – Only a teaser site up right now from Otomate/Red, nice art though! And catpeople!
Anyone know what the title means? 十三支演技?Thirteen supporting commentaries/adaptations?

Strobe Mania, from D3, has a story and characters up.

Oh man, so excited about this because potential kemonomimi Sanguo heroes! (Can NEVER have enough Sanguo.) Don’t screw this up, Otomate. As long as you make the heroine a badass who can use that pretty guandao, don’t mess *too* much with the history and make the guys likeable (is that some Xiahou Dun I see on the far left? :D ), we’ll be juuuuust fine. >:D (Maybe even a battle system? Pleeeeease?)

Well, Engi (演技) is a homophone for the Japanese pronunciation of Yanyi (演義 i.e. the Sanguo Yanyi, Fengshen Yanyi) which I guess denotes some classical Chinese novels (as opposed to the histories like the Sanguo Zhi/Sangokushi). With the kanji/hanzi used in the name, maybe it has to do with special (martial?) art techniques while punning on the name of the novel? Dunno, just guessing.

Juuzaengi was out in the newest b’s log! seems like its based on Sangokushi.
Heroine is 関羽 (Kannu) and the reason why she has cat ears? uhhh, in this version of sangokushi, theres a advanced race of people called Neko zoku who are hated by people. Basically, the neko zoku get forced into fighting by humans and yea, thats about it. Heroine ends up with one of the human generals or other cat people. Looks like this heroine is badass XD. AND the art is pretty.
    High expectations~~

Ooh, another good reason for me to finally start on the Romance of the Three Kingdoms (now if only I had several days to plow through 1000′s of pages)! Can’t wait to see the B’s Log, to save money now I only get them every other month, which is tough but helpful to my budget :D

Are you serious? They made the mighty Guan Yu (first a hero known for his magnificent beard and fighting skills, later one of the most important and popular gods in the Chinese pantheon) the heroine? (I mean, he does tend to get turned into a girl a lot in Japanese manga and the like, but this is the first nukomimi version I’ve seen.) He was a pretty great general, so I have extremely high hopes for the heroine (and possible pairings!) in this game. Hoping that she can punch the kingdom of Wu in the neck during at least a few routes, that’d be fun. /nerdsquee

Oh man, cannot wait for this one.

It usually refers to the zodiac, but in this case there is the 13th (the cat) which people believed was chased out of the list of 12 zodiac. So the cat-race (that’s the main char’s race) is referred to as 十三支演技, or the 13th zodiac.

They explain it in the 2nd para of the prologue on the official site :)
