Koisentai Love & Peace

Sanctuary has just announced a new game for the PSP, Koisentai Love & Peace, for next spring. It’s based on a series of drama CDs from b-green （Broccoli) which are based on a cell phone game. Looks like fun!

Renai Banchou sequel! and other news

I missed a couple things in the mag update.

Renai Banchou 2 is coming out, where the story is about the ura-banchou, the ‘bad’ team of banchou from the first game (who aren’t really bad, they just try and steal away the regular banchou’s customers).  It’s called Renai Banchou 2 Midnight Lesson, and in addition to the 6 ura banchou seen in the first title, there are two new characters, Host Banchou and Yankee Banchou (does anyone not know what yankee means? It doesn’t refer to anything US-related, it’s kind of a style (like the guys who are in motorcycle gangs…). Their seiyuu haven’t been announced yet.

PersonA is a new R18 title from Mirai, based on the Phantom of the Opera. No seiyuu for this one yet either.

PS: Oh, Starry Sky has perfume now. Yes, that’s right – PERFUME. I wonder what they smell like -  Taurus could smell like gentleness and performance anxiety! What do you think each of the scents will be?

Hakuouki is coming in English!

Yes, Rita just let me know that Aksys announced it at Anime Expo today, as hinted at on their webpage. They’re translating the PSP version. I’m not sure what the other one is, Rita if you hear give us a shout, and thanks very much for the scoop!!

July 2011 news – Ozmafia!

A few new games this month!

On the first page of the new B’s Log, there’s an announcement of a new game from Poni Pachet, the theme of which is…the mafia and magicians in the land of Oz! What this game, Ozmafia, will be like, I have NO clue, but the art is very nice. There’ll be more info in the next B’s Log.

Otomate is working with Gust on a new Atelier title! If you’re not familiar with the Atelier series, it’s a series of games where you’re a young alchemist, and have to build up your abilities while making new items through alchemy . The Otomate Atelier title, Atelier Elkrone, will include romance along with the alchemy sim elements.

A new R18 game was announced, Kimi ga Tame, Koishi Midareshi Tsuki no Hana, for the PC. The main character is a female ninja (a kunoichi), and it’s set in the Edo era.

Exorcism of Maria, from Karin, is going to be re-released for the PSP.

A date is set for releasing Angelique -Maren no Rokukishi-. It will come out for the PSP on November 11.

News – May 2011

Argh, I’m feeling so lazy lately, I really have to get going on so many games! Anyways, here’s the news from B’s Log and Girl’s Style:

New games:

• A partially free online game called Star Project with some nice character designs as well. The heroine inherits the position of president of a production company that’s in a lot of debt, and is trying to make it success. The three idols right now are: Tooya (CV: Terajima Takuma), Ren (CV: Ishida Akira), and Torian (CV: Miki Shinichirou). I think it may be up already! (Update: You can sign up, but the game is down for final testing (I think they just finished their beta) until June.)
• Hitofuta Kihyou – the heroine has just transferred to an all-dorm school, and accidentally releases 12 spirits from a scroll, and thus has to re-seal them. It’s for the PC from Profitrolle, and right now is saying early summer.
• Miyako fandisk on June 30: I still haven’t even finished one route, I couldn’t focus on it…
• Kaminaru Kimi to – from Otomate for the PSP. The heroine is a normal girl who suddenly becomes a ‘kami’, and gains the power to perform miracles to grant people wishes. However, she can’t use her power for her own desires. Scheduled for September.

Release dates:

• Gekkan Ryouran Romance in August
• Bunmei Kaika Aoiza Ibunroku – Aug 18

Other news:

• A web-based game that’s apparently active now: Girls’ Paradise. I’m not sure if you actually get endings, or just ‘enjoy being popular’, as the game says, as long as you want.

This doesn’t cover the most recent B’s Log released last week, so there may well be even more games coming up soon. I’m having trouble keeping up with all these!

February News – HnK PS3, VitaminX OAV!

Though this is pretty late, here are the new games announced in the March B’s Log:

* Gekka Ryouran Romance announced – from Otomate and Rejet, a story about ‘abnormal love’, set in an isolated celeb high school, with a secret dating club. Cute art!

* Noise -voice of snow-, a PC game from Operetta, is about an orphan heroine trying to survive in a world with two rival families, the Dyx family and the Daios family. This was announced last month but I didn’t do a general news post. The heroine Mana is picked up by the Dyx family, and it appears that you can choose to either go with a ‘light’ route or a ‘dark’ route, where you possibly carry out some dirty work for your adopted family.

* Hiiro no Kakera Aizouban Akaneiro no Tsuioku – HnK on the PS3. The original game, Ano Sora no Shita de, and apparently 2 more? (they might mean the extra stuff put on the PSP and DS versions). Maaaayybe I’ll get this, but probably not as soon as it comes out.

* Zettai Meikyuu Grimm Director’s Cut – probably on a different platform, Karin is adding new CGs, two new routes (not new characters, but a harem ending and an alternate for Ludwig), and beefing up the dreamy Grimm fairytale portions to the original game and re-releasing it.

* VitaminX anime! It will be a three-party “OAD” – Original Animation DVD, with each part focusing on two of the guys, #1 is Tsubasa and Hajime, #2 is Kiyoharu and Shun, and #3 is Goro and Mizuki. VitaminX Addicition is set for spring!

* Hanayaka Nari, Waga Ichizoku fandisk for the PSP. It’s called Kinema Mosaic

* SYK’s fandisk, Renshouden, is being released for the PSP in April. I never got it on the PS2 so maybe I will get it now, I enjoyed SYK

* Of course, the Nise no Chigiri fandisk, Omoide no Saki e, with additions to the original story as well as after stories. I can’t wait!

* Wand of Fortune II pushed back to “Spring”. Maybe I’ll wait to get this, depending on if it really comes out in spring or later.

*Are You Alice? set for March 24!

And it looks like Otomate is working on another new project, maybe with Joker in the name? There’s a teaser site for it saying to read the April B’s Log.

The lowdown on Harutoki 5

Harukanaru Toki no Naka de 5 is only a month away now (only??), ok, still a month away, and since the gameplay seems to be quite different, I’m laying out what’s been explained so far in the otome mags.

The background story is that the heroine is on a plane returning to Japan after studying abroad. She’s with her cousin Miyako (CV:Saiga Mitsuki), and her adopted brotherｓ Shun (CV: Terajima Takuma) and Sou, but the plane malfunctions in the air. They brace themselves for the crash, but when they next regain consciousness, the heroine, Miyako, and Shun are in a different world.

This is the alternate world of Bakumatsu-era Japan, and the heroine has been chosen as the Priestess of the White Dragon. Miyako is the Black Dragon Priestess, and seems to fulfill a similar ‘older sister’ role to Saku from Harutoki 3. A high-ranking member of the Bakufuu government, Amami (CV: Suwabe Junichi), gives the heroine an hourglass and tells her to use it. When she does, she finds she returns to her own world.

General System
The heroine has to save the Bakumatasu world within a limited amount of time – when she is in that world, her hourglass empties constantly (top right in screenshot). To refill it, she has to return to her own world, but there’s a cost to that as well. Each time she returns to her world, one of her ‘life fragments’ is used up(top left in screenshot). If all of them are used before doing what you have to, it’s game over. And apparently some events will automatically use one, so you can’t totally control it.

Battle System
The heroine can fight with up to three party members. At the beginning of each turn you choose to do moves (including attacks) or abilities (like healing) for each member. As in previous Harutokis, you can choose to do special attacks with multiple characters that are especially effective when their element is one that the enemy is weak against.

There are a couple of new features to this system as well. A special attack seems to only hit one enemy, but if you combine special attacks in a certain order, you can do a ‘chain tactic’ (renkinjutsu), where even characters that aren’t in the battle party can join in the attack if your bond with them is strong enough . These attacks hit all enemies and can be very powerful.

There is also an experience system, but I’m not sure if it’s as detailed as before, where you can choose to get new abilities, or if your stats just increase.

Weapon System
If you beat an onryou with an element attack it’s weak against, it turns into a ‘tamashii’ (soul) and you can seal it in your weapons. This improves your weapon, and once you’ve improved it a certain amount, the weapon will change into a different weapon, eventually becoming a legendary weapon.

A couple other notes: The Four Gods show up in human form in Harutoki 5! They are all voiced by previous hachiyou, of course corresponding to their old parts – Seiryuu (Seki Tomokazu), Suzaku (Takahashi Naozumi), Byakko (Inoue Kazuhiko), and Genbu (Hoshi Souichirou). Also, the March B’s Log has pics of all the hachiyou in modern clothing, so perhaps they can come with you when you travel to your own world??

Even though the battle system and some other important parts of the game have been revealed, the overall plot is still kind of mysterious. Some of the teasers seemed pretty ominous, and Ruby Party says that the hourglass is the symbol of the whole game, so who knows what will happen to the heroine when her time runs out?

Nise no Chigiri fandisk!!!

Yay, I knew it was going to happen! Though it didn’t get as much publicity as it could, Nise no Chigiri was, I think, more popular than Otomate expected. Its character poll got more votes than any before (though probably if Hakuouki was done now it would get the most), and I think the response to the fanbook and comic adaptation in Aria was good as well. Before the holidays a drama CD was announced, and hints were dropped on the staff blog about another announcement in the new year. And finally, on yesterday’s Nise no Chigiri update, it was announced!

The fandisk is set for summer, and is called Nise no Chigiri Omoide no Saki e (二世の契り　想い出の先へ). It will be on the PSP as the original was. Apparently the new B’s Log has info on it, but my shipment is delayed (booo!!). The blog says that there are two parts to it, additions to the original story (yesss, the game so needed some more in it!) and a story after the end of the game. And they say that for the in-game additions, they’re adding as much romance as they can, given the nature of the original. AWESOME – this is exactly what fans were asking for. More two-shot CGs, less CGs of Yatarou bending a metal bar!!

I may add some pics from B’s Log later if I can, but in the meantime, I am soo happy about this!

Garnet Cradle Portable, New Angelique!

Drat, I had this ready last week but was holding out, hoping that a Nise no Chigiri fandisk would be announced (it will happen I swear!!) and then forgot to publish this Anyhow, there is a new Angelique game coming out! But it’s a ‘social game’. Love Love Tenshi-sama Angelique is scheduled for Spring 2011. All that’s up now is a little movie showing some of the characters (done by Yura Kairi), five of which have seiyuu already: Sugita Tomokazu, Narita Ken, Namikawa Daisuke, Fukuda Kenji and Horiuchi Kenyuu. Anyone have any idea what this will be?

And good things come to those who wait! Garnet Cradle is coming out on the PSP from Otomate, yay!! I hope there’s new stuff added in, but really I’m just happy to be able to play it. I’ve heard the story is not amazing, but that art…I can’t wait to see it on my PSP!

I also noticed a new R18 game coming out from Aromarie, Chou no Doku, Hana no Kusari (Butterfly Poison, Chain of Flowers), set in the Taisho era. It’s planned for Spring 2011.
